At 7:38 p.m., the president and first lady joined the Obama daughters to sit in the front row. Michelle Obama sat to the president’s left, and they frequently whispered to one another.
McCartney entered the room after the president, grabbed a guitar and took the stage, declaring, “Welcome to the White House,” and then performing “Got to Get You Into My Life.” He wore a blue jacket with no tie. When he finished, he joined the president in the front row and sat to his right. They also chatted back and forth most of the evening….
“I don’t think there could be anything more special than to play here.”
McCartney praised Obama saying, “You have billions of us who are rooting for you and we know you are going to come through.”….At the very close of the event after Obama had left the room, McCartney took the mic again and thanked the Library of Congress again for the award. He then said, “After the last eight years, it’s great to have a president who knows what a library is.”
That and another comment showed Sir Paul has no class, at least not tonight. It was disappointing to see someone so well loved to do that. Is he just a very old rock star from Liverpool? Let it be, Paul, keep politics out of music.

You are right – history sort of covers everything -it is like the master index in a library. Unfortunately in HS I had a terrible teacher and he turned me off to history and politics (good grief, he blew his nose into his tie!). But I have now time to read. For anyone like me there is one really great book to introduce history “A Short History of Nearly Everything” – I got hooked,still I am more into science but history comes second, art is third.
OT I just spelled “nose” above as “knows.” I hardly ever made typos based on phonetics because “their” and “there” were too totally separate concepts for someone with English as a 2nd language. But now I have been making mistakes like that too often. If anyone has personal experience or comes across a study about spelling errors I’d really love to read about it. I wonder if now after 30+ years my vocabulary is getting stored in “native format”.
I do the same thing now – and have done so since having chemotherapy. I, and the doctors, blame it on the chemo. I was not sympathetic to people who have had the problem from childhood. It has been a very humbling experience.
I think also it has to do with typing speed versus thinking speed. I find myself constantly typing “think” for “thing” and similar examples. Usually long ago, if I did make a typing error, I knew it immediately – before even looking at the copy. Now I even miss it while proof reading.
All my friends say it is age, that they have done it since mid fifties. That is the time I became ill, so I wonder.

I guess it is old age and stress – this current situation is definitely more stressful than anything that I have experienced before, and there have been ups and downs. This is so bad because I cannot do anything about it. I’m hitting 55 here by the end of the year. Typing is the only frustrating part about blogging and commenting.

My problem is with thoughts. My brain gets so busy thinking things out, my mouth just gets half the words out. Some days are harder then others.
LOL, I am a blabber too! Having so many thoughts makes me lose track of what I’m speaking or writing about. Blogging is good because I can read my last thoughts. But speaking has at times included those horrible silent pauses. I could never be a talking head.
According to Rush, GWB read a couple of books a WEEK. And heavy stuff.
At least W isn’t a whiny crybaby like Barry.
I felt safer because W wasn’t a whiny crybaby. He made us all stronger, some in negative ways, some much more positive. With BO in office, all I think about is getting him out and the crooks out of Congress. I don’t trust this governing body.

I just shot an email to PBS suggesting they delete that snide comment from their special. Hope others will do the same. It’s very disappointing that a man of his supposed stature would stoop so low.
I agree, I don’t understand why he stained his good name and a nice moment by something that only shows how ignorant he is? I have always admired Paul for leading a nearly normal, moral life style. But here he showed us his true colors. I can just imagine the screaming match between Macca and his ex. Maybe he deserved her after all. Anyway, I feel really sorry for their poor baby girl.

Celebrities need to stay out of politics. If they have a cause, they can put their money where their mouth is like Angelina Jolie. Or Sandra Bullock who’s always stroking a million dollar check for direct humanitarian causes (like Doctors without Borders who were already in Haiti during the quake and lost their stuff too). Awareness is what we need.

I do believe Macca is referring to the “big bailout” of the EU by US taxpayers. BO will “come through” by stealing from us to give to the IMF so the EU and the Euro doesn’t collapse. Poor Paul would be in a world of hurt monetarily if that happened. He doesn’t want to become one of the “genteel poor” with a “title” but not much else.

We are doing a good job educating those who might not find this information presented in a reasonable fashion anywhere. There are a lot of blogs which are extreme, they say the right thing but the way they write about it ruins the message. As you know I have no alliance with either party, I only want what is best for USA. But I would call myself a modern conservative.
For once, it has been really easy to say what is wrong: the Obamas. After November 2008 it feels like a virus attacked us, infecting people and computers.

Rep. Marcia Fudge, D-Ohio, and 19 fellow black lawmakers in the all-Democratic caucus quietly introduced a resolution last week that would restrict the powers of the new independent Office of Congressional Ethics. The office, formed by Congress in 2008, is run by a panel of private citizens.
Black caucus Chairwoman Barbara Lee, D-Calif., is among the sponsors, but the full 42-member caucus did not endorse the measure. Lee declined comment through a spokesman.
The absence of support from top Democratic leaders for Fudge’s proposal – including from House Whip Jim Clyburn, a black caucus member from South Carolina – suggests that it isn’t going anywhere. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi offered no immediate comment.
Since its inception, the ethics office has investigated at least eight black caucus members, including veteran Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., and five others in that group over privately funded trips to the Caribbean.

My most favorite crook is Barney Frank and he has been there 30 years collecting “donations”. I have still not recovered from the shock from October 2008 – it is hard to believe all this has happened under the nose of our government. Many highly qualified people predicted the crisis and feds (both sides) ignored the writing on the wall. I blame the crisis about equally on the two parties – but if I would write a detailed post about it I bet I would end up giving more of the blame to the DEMs.
I really hate fools like Macca to bad mouth the Bush admin, Obama’s admin has been by far worse for the country. The hope and change mantra turned out to be a nightmare.

Waters is so special she suggested a bank bailout her husband is heavily invested in and got it to the tune of 250 million. She also was party to the Fannie Freddie collapse to the tune of 400 billion. Dodd and Schumer were part of it as well as Frank.
OT – I find issues like abortion and gay marriage increasing polarity, and I hate to think someone votes based on where a candidate stands on one or more of these single issues.
I think government is so complex that it would make sense to separate the politics from moral and religious issues like abortion and gay marriage, maybe there are other issues that I can’t think of right now. I think abortion and gay marriage should be controlled at the state level. A gay marriage would be treated by the feds as any marriage.

All things not specifically given to the Federal Government in the Constitution revert to the states. I think the Fed has overstepped on many levels into the business of the States. In OH we quietly passed bills on minimum wage with no big hulaballoo. We quietly passed an registry for couples who were same sex or living together to get equal treatment. The Fed steps in and a big mess and fight happens. It doesn’t have to be that way.
On the abortion issue; there is something wrong with a society that thinks a child is a burden , shameful or a detriment to success. When pregnancy becomes a serious medical issue, then the mother’s health shoud be paramount.
On the gay marriage/relationship; who cares what consenting adults do behind closed doors. Marriage is a legal relationship that has benefits and responsiblities. It should be an option to all couples.
Both of these issues should be governed by the communties that wish to regulate them, not the Federal gov’t.
National abortion laws were brought to us through the courts. It looks as if gay marriage will follow the same path. I agree that these issues need to be decided on state level. They should also be decided by the electorate.
Up front: I’m pro-life all the way. What bugs me BIG TIME is the hypocrisy of the pro-abortion crowd. Example: Years ago in KY, a law was considered in the state assembly to require abortion providers to maintain the same sanitary standards as any other facility offering surgical services. NARAL type groups screamed bloody murder…how dare we impose such ridiculous standards, designed to limit “access”. The law didn’t make it out of committee. Fast forward to about 2 years ago. A local doctor who did abortions in his office was charged with medicaid fraud for double billing for ultrasounds done to determine the age of the unborn child prior to abortion. (His price depended on fetal age. ) An interesting side issue developed, however. His office was filthy…unsterilized instruments, etc. The NARAL cry then was that pro-lifers were the ones who forced young girls into his nasty facility. Somehow his greed, demonstrated by unwillingness to spend the bucks necessary to provide a clean surgical environment, was fallout from pro-life influence. Go figure!
I happened to know this man’s wife and daughters quite well. I had met him on several occasions, and he was one scary guy. He bullied women outside his family, while wanting nothing but the best for his girls. (A friend of mine with whom he did business related to his daughters was considering a restraining order against him.) His girls had the best of everything, while his patients were brutalized by his rough treatment …many contracting infections in his office. (I read the blogs.) His filth was in no way the “fault” of pro-lifers. The guy hates women. Period!
Decisions about these activities need to be made on the most local level possible. The facts are less likely to be distorted when closer to home. Same thing with gay marriage. Rather than nationalize, leave it to local voter choice. Both these issues are instances of a federal power grab, rather than allowing states their proper rights as outlined in the Constitution!

Latest on AZ immigration debate (said with tongue in cheek)
Obama says the law is the wrong approach to illegal immigration and his administration is combing through it and preparing for a possible legal challenge. Brewer has been soliciting donations from the law’s supporters to defend it.
In an interview Wednesday, Brewer said she hoped she and Obama could agree on solutions to improve border security.
Brewer said she wants to know how Obama’s plan to deploy up to 1,200 National Guard troops to the border with Mexico will affect Arizona and what else he has in mind to tighten border security.
She said she’ll make a pitch for her own proposal calling for more troops on the border, deployment of helicopters and surveillance drones and completion of a border fence.
The White House said it would lay out for Brewer the “unprecedented resources” dedicated over the past 16 months to secure the border.
My question; How does one “comb through” a ten page bill (19 page bill) this long and not be able to find anything unconstitutional in it? It’s obvious Holder hasn’t, so, the visit with Brewer comes about. LMAO!!!

Conner, I remember Keith Richards when he was in his early 20′s, and he looked like he had died and been buried for three days..when he was onstage playing the guitar. These days he is much better looking, LOL!!! Now he just looks lived in and craggy..much healthier. Still plays a dynamite guitar, though.

Oh no, no way. There was a big fundraiser and they just had a new exhibit and inductions. NY wanted it shut down and moved there, but it’s not going to happen. The third floor has a glass floor. The place is full of guitars, lots of memorabilia, even a car in the lower deck. Rockers are always handing over their collectibles to the Hall. The talk is expansion for a theatre to have the big induction show here instead of NY. This is the home of Rock and Roll and the Moondoggie Show.
The Moondog Coronation Ball is still held here every year. Not far from my house is the First Bandstand (before Dick Clark American Bandstand) on Lorain Avenue. Same type of setup. Moondog used to do his show live from there on weekends. Kids went and danced. It’s all in the Annals of Cleveland. This was in the Fifties.
