OK so it has been already said a billion times that Gabby is a hero for surviving the nasty politics and the shooting in Tucson and she will be missed. Butt I question the timing of her resignation on Sunday. Tuesday Gabby may get more attention than Obama will get for his last State of the Union address.
For my weary mind this is timed politically. She really should have resigned within 6 months if not sooner. Was the delay motivated by recent redistricting in AZ? Commission approved the final Congressional Map on 1-17-2012. Gabby resigned on 1-22-2012, 5 days later and two days before the State of the Union Address.
Now the newly drawn districts involved may be more favorable for the DIMs. By the way, Giffords only won by a few thousand votes in 2010.
Will Obama preach again about the right wingers having to be “civil”? Will he make AZ look like the enemy – a racist state dead set against undocumented residents and with so much hostility and vitriol brewing in the desert that Gabby Giffords gets shot because she was a Democrat and fighting for a fair share for all the people?
I am so totally done with this shooting tragedy caused by a nonpolitical mentally ill person. We have heard enough. Let Tucson forget, the residents of Tucson had nothing to do with the shooting. And getting this dragged back up, in so many places here locally, to commemorate the one year anniversary of the shooting – the shooting should not redefine what Tucson is – this tragedy could have happened anywhere.

It’s so she can sit next to MOoooo at the SOTU, STFU speech and have everyone look up at the box and BOoooo can make a stupid comment up to the box tomorrow night. Wonder if he will mention Senator Kirk when he is mentioning his care and concern for “Gabby”??
Gabby’s husband will take her seat after she is a photo op for Obama. Remember it was Sarah Palin’s fault the crazy gunman shot Gabby and others.
ABO 2012 (Anybody But Obama 2012 )
Like it was Jodie Foster’s fault Hinkley shot Reagan ? LOL. I used to like Mark Kelly, a true American hero, but he jumped the shark bringing Palin into the conversation. He should know better
Blame Hollywood and all their liberals for inciting that shooting!!
Gabby’s husband blamed the Tea Party. He had no business doing that.
Was he man enough to ever say he was sorry for that accusation and take it back???
I believe Mark Kelly is a legal resident of Texas. I think he was a Republican who re-registered as an Independent and is Catholic. Gabby’s legal residence is Arizona, is a Democrat, and Jewish. They seem like an unlikely couple. I really admired Mark Kelly until he blamed Sarah Palin for her shooting. Ridiculous. No one ever mentions that while the media and leftists always scream conservative when shootings and other terrorism happens, it always turns out to be a lefty….NEVER a conservative. I doubt that this Jared nut ever heard of Sarah Palin. Then there’s all the nasty words that fly out of Obama’s mouth and Harry Reid’s and Nancy Pelosi’s and others………
It was proven, by interviewing his family & friends, that Loughner’s political views were not Republican, Tea Party, Conservative, etc., but “far left”. I believe they said he may have shot Gabby as she wasn’t left enough for him. Funny how the mainsteam media dropped THAT statement reall fast…
I agree, she should have resigned months ago. She is in the toughest fight anyone could face in trying to overcome many disablilities. We all wish her well.
What’s also forgotten are the others who were wounded in this insanity and the feelings of grief that hangs over the loved ones of those who died that day. They are just as important as MsGiffords but most have forgotten about these “little people”. I haven’t forgotten and I wish them a speedy recovery and peace.
As for the speech tomorrow night; no doubt that BO will find some way to blame the extremists or violence on the politiical vitriol by his opponents. The only reason that MsGiffords will be at this speech is to promote the Dem agenda and to elicit sympathy for her condition.
We, in Arizona, have been taking hit after hit from this administration and it must stop. The first “hit” was the disrespectful attire that MO wore on her visit to our state; it was disgraceful and was the seed that started all of the anti-MO sites all over the internet. After that, was the painting of all Arizonans as racists for wanting to stop the illegal aliens from Mexico from overrunning our communities. The many cities and organizations that started a boycott against us were nothing more than leftist Dems who hoped to turn the country into a pro-amnesty mood.
no more ranting…….
Well stated, AZ has been hit really hard by these grifters. LOL, I forgot the horrid shorts MOOCH wore landing in PHX. She must dress like that on purpose to show disrespect. And it is totally idiotic and unpatriotic behavior, butt so is almost everything these two and their gang do or have done.
I’m listening to the debate and I can see why Newt is surging in the polls.
An unbelievable article about AfAm women relating to MOOCH:
The writer is a WP reporter “covers civil rights, race and politics. ”
I cannot believe what I am reading! Can this really be true? How can a grown up person think like that? If that is not being a racist then I don’t know what is.
If you have to identify and characterize yourself based on the people in the media there is a sever identity crisis. I cannot even comprehend where this kind of thinking comes from. The only way I can picture this in my life is if I felt elated to be a Finn because a Finn in the news was fantastic, or felt terrified when a Finn was a public embarrassment in the media. I just don;t think like that. I am my own unique person and I view all other people as being their own unique persons. Unfortunately there ARE stereotypes but do independently thinking intelligent people still use them??
Maybe it is a minority thing, this “projection” to/from others. When the Casey Anthony verdict was delivered, there were Hispanics in my area (central FL) who were ELATED … yes, elated … because “one of their own”, namely her lead attorney Jose Baez, had this so-called “success”. One Hispanic man (probably aged 40 or so) who was interviewed on the news was just beside himself with pride, and said he told his little son that he could become anything he dreamed of when he grew up. It was disgusting, and just downright bizarre.
What you’re describing is called “tribal identity”. When a person only finds verification in the achievements of someone like themselves, they have no self-confidence or belief that they are individual and separate.
The Black community has been spoon-fed the notion that White people are throwing roadblocks in their path to ,well, just everything, so that one who looks like they do does succeed they all claim credit.
What’s puzzzling is that the Black community wasn’t “proud” of Condi Rice, or JusticeThomas and didn’t back HermanCain. Their accomplishments are something that any “family” would be proud of and each of them are role models for anyone to overcome their humble beginnings.
“Tribal Identity”, hard to overcome ten thousand years or so of survival instinct.
A huge number of us have moved on, but there are a huge number who have not.
I believe the over-used saying is appropriate herem “Get a life!”
That would be here: (not harem lol)
Yes, independent intelligent types still think in terms of stereotyping and culture. While it is more then pathetic to think in terms of color or culture, it’s still going on in the Universities and public schools and being re-enforced in the family. Not exclusive to minorities either.
Thank you for making me understand!! Count on the Birdies to know what the deal is!
Yes, tribal identity is live and strong – just look at all the sports fans going nuts over the win or loss of their team. My ex was very intelligent and highly educated butt he totally lost it with ASU football games in the late 70′s. I remember him turning into something like a cave man during the game events {shudder} – I loved to watch the games too but my outlook on life did not change if our team lost or won. It was good to see GREAT PLAYS from either team! And that is how I view people also, it doesn’t matter who they are: I feel happy for THEM if they win or succeed or sorry for THEM if a tragedy or some loss happens. Under normal circumstances it does not change my own feelings. Butt there are stories that completely pull on my heart strings. I watched the movie Secretariat Sunday night and I was so happy to see him WIN BIG in the end I was crying.
Starting this blog, I did not even think it had anything to do with race. It was about the sorry _resident we got from the totally crazy election. And then the FLOTUS dresses like she lost her mind. And as time went on her personality became an issue. She is an angry selfish woman. Nothing to do with any other person in the world. She is who she is, a product of her upbringing and affirmative action, and her lack desire to fit in or to be a good person. She expected other people to fit her into their lives. Well, now she has a big part of the country doing just that no matter how she acts or what she does.
But race perception is part of the deal with Moo. We can’t really get away with it, when she brings it up.
Also, she uses race in an attempt to squelch any dissent.
(BTW, what race is Orange? as in Obama’s skin color tonight during the State of the Union Speech? Is he going for the Oompa vote?
Well, Birdies, Newt will be in the neighborhood today. He’s holding a rally in a public park one block from my office. Streets are already blocked off in the surrounding area, and we have been warned that getting out at the end of the day will be difficult. His supporters already disrupted traffic this morning and are milling around the street where we are located. I appreciate his right to assemble his supporters. However, he has chosen the wrong location (in the “Old” part of town) where streets are narrow and confusing.
I find it funny that he is trying to portray himself as the everyman, but he is campaigning hard today in a 1% town (Naples) and holding a rally in the 1% of the 1% area of our town (Olde Naples). I am not one of the wealthy, but live and work among them, and the money in this area makes my jaw drop.
Some of us have the same kind of problems, but with BO. LynnII’s fellow Ohioians have been tortured with the 255 trips that BO has made to their state.
I found out today that BO will stop at an INTEL plant 2 blocks from my home in Arizona which means that 3 major interstates…I-10, the 202 and the 101 will be blocked as will the surface streets that are busy all day long. How he plans on taking credit for INTEL’s success is beyond me.
What he might do is go to the Maricopa County Jail where our Sheriff has hundreds of illegals waiting to be ajudicated for their crimes or deported back to their homeland.
Or, he might take a trip to our southern border and take a ride with the BorderPatrolAgents who have their hands tied and are trying to preserve our border from criminals. Maybe he’ll be lucky enough to watch as illegals climb over the fence with their drugs.
He could go to the Port of Entry and watch as the Agents there search vehicles for hidden contraband and illegals hiding in the back of trucks.
Wouldn’t that make an interesting news story?
I would love it if the politicians would visit the area and not hobnob with the uber-wealthy. Weekly, we have rafts and makeshift boats filled with Cubans and Haitians trying to come ashore (wet foot/dry foot). Local citizens patrol the beaches. When they spot the boats, the police are called and the citizens actually swim/paddle out to the rafts in an attempt to prevent them from coming ashore. Why not spend time on the beach watching the patrols?
Due to the high number of second homes down here that are closed up most of the time, it isn’t uncommon for owners to visit during Season (New Year’s-Easter) and discover that someone (mainly illegals) was living in their home while they were away. More than 200 owners reported their homes had been occupied during their absence this past year. Why not speak to homeowers about how personal property will be protected?
Theft, rape, kidnapping, drugs, murder- the list of criminal activities committed by people who should not even be in the country goes on and on. What will these politicians do to enforce immigration laws and protect the citizens of our country? Law Enforcement can do very little right now because politicians are too chicken**** to act.
Again, don’t come to Naples and only speak to the millionaires and billionaires. Talk to everyone, and let us know that you have our backs.
om…255 trip is like how much of our tax payer money wasted on his tours of self-promotion and/or campaign trips???
Looks as if Governor Brewer had the sense to foresee the spillover from Mexico happening in the US from cartel violence. The LSM, not so much. All the villification and racist claims made against Brewer for her stance on law enforcement is proven wrong. Don’t expect any apologies.
http://news.investors.com/Article/598482/201201201839/mexicos-drug-war-spreads-to-us.htm
So many issues with which to campaign against Obama…………..pray for the right candidate to take it to him!
I’m so happy that BO is finally focusing on issues important to our country.

gee, who is Zooey??? There is just no limit the O’s doing the wrong thing.
And here is the LSM in full non-reporting activity:

cbsnews political hotsheet
I am actually for free birth control but this is again the Obama regime demanding people to get something for free. IMO Obama should make birth control mandatory for any woman on welfare.
“Free” birth control? I don’t think so. Somebody has to pay for it and some of us don’t use birth control so we’re going to pay for those who do.
Why not “free” diabetic supplies, or blood pressure meds, or chemo, or anything that must be paid for out of pocket, usually at 80-20% rates.
Does “birth control” include condoms? the new rings or even sterilization? Where does it start and where does it end.
Nothing is “free”.
I can see your point, especially for free diabetic supplies. But low income people are having babies that cost us much more than birth control pills. There is very little incentive for these teen girls of NOT getting pregnant. It’s one of the reasons why poverty is generational. I absolutely hate the welfare system for rewarding girls/women to have babies.
Drug addicts get free needles (not directly from the gov, but most likey these orgs are funding with grants etc) …I think condoms should be free also to poor people. Stop some STDs and unwanted pregnancies.
I am also of course for legalizing all drugs, and have them on prescription, quality controlled – the war on drugs is a loosing and very costly battle (both in lives lost and in money and resources which could be used for prevention instead) and we have over 2 million people in jail, many due to drug violations.
I feel that conservative people get hung up on morality, DIM’s on “what is fair” butt what we should be looking at is the total cost to the society as a whole due to unwanted pregnancies, STDs, drug related crimes, murders, accidental ODs, cost or prisonment of drug users and sellers. Prison is not at all cost effective for drug use prevention.
Birdie,
You are so correct with your assessment of Gifford. Lovely and strong lady, but who the heck was representing her AZ district for one year, while she was recuperating? Ultimately, she is a public servant and the people, not her career come first. I thought her stepping down was too long in coming and way overdue. Not a sign of leadership. Considering her severe trauma, I was very skeptical of her “return” to Congress in Aug. 2011 to cast a vote to raise the debt ceiling. Was she even able to comprehend what she was doing? Again, I applaud her bravery, but come on — you think she really understood the situation and implication her vote had? I doubt it. Now, I can guarantee you that if she were an R instead of a D, and a man instead of a woman, the media would have blasted her up and down for that. I am sick n’ tired of the double-standard and this crazy political correctness at the expense of WE THE PEOPLE!!
Here’s the link — you decide. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/01/gabrielle-giffords-debt-ceiling-vote_n_915569.html.
What a hero – she saved the US economy from certain doom and gloom with her right hand in a cast no less… we would all be eating bugs and worms if she had not come down to vote and set an example of what is the right thing to do: to increase our debt burden so that we become another Greece.
The food stamp president – not so much according to Al Sharpton WHO SHOULD KNOW this number better than anyone else- whom is he trying to fool???
MSNBC’s Sharpton Wrongly Claims Only 14.2 Million Get Food Stamps
“Billionaire investor George Soros has warned the global economic system could collapse and riots on the streets of America are on the way.
The 81-year-old said he’d rather survive than stay rich as the world faces an ‘evil’ period and Europe fights a ‘descent into chaos and conflict’.”
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2091190/George-Soros-predicts-U-S-riots-insists-Euro-saved-global-economy-collapse.html#ixzz1kOzQqX32
LOL…easy for him to say… he and Obama want chaos. If a narcissist can’t get what he wants he creates chaos from which he can benefit.
They will be all for creating evil class warfare, most likely recruiting solders for that war right now.
Isn’t he inciting chaos and evil things to be done by such talk???
Why did he not predict the collapse of the housing market in 2006, or as far back as in 2003 when Buffett already blasted about the asset based derivatives as being weapons of mass destruction?? Both of these uber-rich leftwing liberals let it just happen because they profited when investments were going up and when they fell off the cliff.
Soros has done a lot of evil in his life….Nazi collaborator, broke the Bank of England and the British pound sterling, did the same to 7 or 8 other countries. He may be wealthy, but his life is one of poverty and zero morals or ethics.
Not so much a prophecy as bragging what he paid for.
exactly!!
The manchild _resident is using the auto bailout as a corner stone for his re-election.
So how much are WE the PEOPLE paying for each job saved by BOBS?
And that tactic will surely self destruct like the Volt, itself.
O/T Who’s sitting with MOO tonight? The list shows what is important to this administration….Mark Kelly (Gabby’s DH), a graduate who had to move back in with her parents (99%), Warren Buffet’s secretary, Mayor of San Antonio (Hispanic), a lesbian Air Force officer….
http://blog.newsok.com/politics/2012/01/24/first-ladys-guest-list-released-for-state-of-the-union-speech/
LOL….that’s just ridiculous. Warren Buffet’s secretary, that’s just absurd but so typical of this regime to use people for their political gain.
Trying to bribe a Senator, Lightsquared is turning into another BO donor fiasco… Senator Grassley is a tad upset with them over the suggestions he might go along with their plans and drop the investigation. LOL
I guess Falcone thought everyone is for sale……. since BO and his thugs are.
http://hotair.com/archives/2012/01/23/grassley-lightsquared-offered-me-a-political-win-in-exchange-for-backing-down-on-probe/
Has this been in the LSM??? These bits of fraud and nasty biz just never ends. And I bet we only see a tip of the corruption going on.
Finally….one country gets it right….genocide is genocide no matter who commits it…
http://en.trend.az/regions/met/turkey/1983642.html
Good for France! How do people arrive at “Triumph of islamophobia in France” from that??
Doesn’t seem to have anything to do with any phobias, just historical facts.
I think there should be a similar law against denial of the Holocaust here in the US. Holocaust denial is illegal in a number of European countries. Stunned that Finland is not one of them.
Did that law create phobias about the Germans? I doubt anyone even thought about it.
Mitt Romney gave millions to charity. Joe Biden gave $369.
http://harndenblog.dailymail.co.uk/2012/01/much-ado-about-nothing-mitt-romney-is-very-rich-he-also-gave-millions-to-charity-and-the-taxman.html
Cheapskate. Selfish.
I don’t believe in the small amount.. I bet that was faked for tax benefit… any amount less than $500 will not trigger an audit.
Wasn’t Romney handsome last night! He had a nice manner that was not at all nasty. I like them all. One of my favorite Washington Post writers, Michael Gerson, did write this about Newt unfortunately which convinced me he might not be a good choice: http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/newt-gingrichs-troublesome-lack-of-prudence/2012/01/23/gIQAslX6LQ_story.html
I have no idea how strong Obama’s support is. I suppose it hinges on how the independents view the economy.
Romney against Obama might just tweak those undecided. After all his manner is so nice and his family is really beautiful.
But Ron Paul has the best policies I think. The FT said he had a cult following. I am not a cult person. Ron Paul, the oldest , has the youngest followers!! He has captured their attention with his direct no nonsense answers and integrity. Could be interesting….let it be Ron Paul / Romney?
I adore Ron Paul but he has no chance of being elected. The youth is for him because he is different and he does not have any? wars.
If he had been president some 30 years ago the world would be a different place. Don’t know if life would be better butt our government would be smaller.
He really is like a cult leader, I find his ideas appealing BUTT I don’t think many of them would be the best thing in the real world.
Now that you brought this up, makes me think back that Obama must have had the same appeal to people with his ideas… ideas as Obama stated were great, butt in the real world he has been a terrible rOTUS.
Wow, Nancy Pelosi is completely off the rails:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/01/24/pelosi_on_a_gingrich_presidency_that_will_never_happen.html
MOOCH is wearing shiny, glittery party wear tonight to the State of the Union, a professional function.
I guess we should be grateful she wearing sleeves.
Wow…she looks like en electric blue stuffed sausage!
Just awful. Does she think this is a party?
Is that Malia’s dress?
Really highlights her gut. My gosh….does no one HELP this woman with an honest assessment?
Comment I just saw on Hot Air:
Oof, a Blue Whale. I thought they were near extinction?
carbon_footprint on January 24, 2012 at 9:03 PM
Yikes, I just saw the first photo – I was certain she’d go conservative, BUTT there she is in the shiny electric blue monstrosity that highlights her fat stomach. AND, she couldn’t resist that tacky pin.
Electric blue stuffed sausage – LOL!
Poor Mark Kelly looks like a shrimp next to her. I hope she didn’t give him one of those bear hugs – she could crack him into.
Can’t wait for the next photos of the exciting night – I’m not watching; I can’t stand his voice – I’ll have to wait for the reviews………they make me sick.
I feel sick after having listened to it. Worst speech he’s ever given. We’re dooomed if he gets reelected..
Campaign speech for the masses. So much BS.
Here she is:
http://www.daylife.com/photo/0be20x91IOdY2?__site=daylife&q=michelle+obama
My offspring said “that’s a nice dress” and I had to explain that MO was not at a cocktail party but at an offical government function. All of the other women were dressed in conservative suits or suit dresses and MO stands out like a fish out of water. Again.
Why oh why does she insist on wearing something that accents her worst features?
She almost looks preggers and her bosom has collapsed or something.
For someone who claims to be so ‘active’ and who works out, she really has a horrid figure..And that;s including the lipo..Which I will bet my last dollar she had in Hawaii in 2010.
It’s unreal how that wig just sits on her head – not blended in – just sitting there with her own hair so apparent.
Too shiny, too tight, too bright….that’s our TOO MOO…….destined to not disappoint.
Well, she sure “popped” in that crowd. Gah. At least the royal ta-ta’s were hidden, though upstaged by her royal jelly belly
{snicker} forgot to wear the heavy duty containment system…..
MOOch is shaped like a bowling pin.
So am I, but at least I have the good sense to know it and dress accordingly.
Barky is starting of the SOTU by bragging about “ending” the Iraq war.
HAHAHAHA! He is comparing this post-Iraq war time to the post-WWII time.
Lying about his grandfather again and using his “earnest” voice. The one that makes me vomit.
Re: a comment upthread about birth control. It is available for free at public health clinics to low income patients. It is often refused as being ‘not manly.’ The pill, and iud’s are rejected as well.
Sometimes no one can fix stupid.
I am impressed that so many of my fellow Birdies have been listening to “the president” ramble on. I have found some little projects to do around the house–right now I am washing kitchen cabinets. I can’t stand the sound of his voice!!
I listened to find out what kind of BS we’ll be up against. I did like Mitch Daniels response. BO isn’t even close to the realm of reality. He tried to channel FDR, it didn’t work out so very well.
This will make you all feel better….the SOTU FACT CHECKED !
http://www.seattlepi.com/news/article/FACT-CHECK-Obama-pushes-plans-that-flopped-before-2684210.php
From Gary Johnson…Libertarian candidate….
““If the idea tonight was that the President would fulfill his constitutional duty to give us ‘information of the State of the Union’, we should be able to expect some truth. I didn’t hear much truth. Truth is that the real unemployment rate is probably still above 10%. Truth is that after all the hand-wringing and deals of the past couple of years, instead of cutting spending, the President and Congress are going back to the well for another $1.2 Trillion debt limit increase. And the truth is we are seeing nothing from either the President or the Republicans that will really change any of those unacceptable realities.
“Only in the twilight zone that is Washington could a President who has bailed out and stimulated our economy to death stand in the Capitol and declare there should be ‘no bailouts, no handouts, and no cop-outs’. Can anyone spell GM or TARP or Solyndra?
“The President said we deserve a government that plays by the same rules as millions of hard-working Americans. Perhaps that should begin with the government not borrowing and printing 43 cents of every dollar it spends – something hard-working Americans can’t and don’t do.
“Until we see a real plan – not a Washington smoke and mirrors plan – that puts a stop to deficit spending and really puts America back to work, all of this rhetoric is just wasted breath.”
Pretty much says it all…..
Amen! That’s my former New Mexican governor. He indeed is a Libertarian…but he ran our Democratic state for 2 terms…and did a damn good job. I wasn’t a happy camper that he was so dissed when he ran for the presidency….he had something to say…
